This is a very rare and unique art case with only 5 produced in 1935. This piano was purchased in New York in the summer of 1935 when the US economy was just starting to take its first turn towards greatness once again. This piano was made by the hands of craftsman and artisans alike coming together to produce a beautiful one of a kind instrument. We feel a very special bond to this instrument, it was an absolute pleasure to restore with almost no dents or scratches before restoration, we almost considering leaving it original but we knew once we restored this piano it would bring it back to its original luster.

If you haven’t ever heard a Steinway player piano of this caliber you are in for a real treat. This is one of those spectacles from the past, truly a “wonder” of history, the United States and humanity. This Duo-art player mechanism that has been expertly rebuilt here in our shop and has the ability to recreate the very best pianist that have ever lived. During the turn of the century Aeolian, Welte, and Ampico created a device in which it enabled them to record every detail of any artist that sat within their studios. These recording are still used as the best representations of artist like Horowitz, Rachmaninoff, Rubinstein, and many more. With over 2,875 recordings to date there is quit a large selection of music available. and that is just Duo-Art. In total, there are 16,000 plus recordings available from other brands.

This Steinway is an absolute rarity, it is usually a rare thing to ever see a Louis Case but the addition of the player makes this piano 1 of only 3 produced that year and less than 100 ever produced. We have restored every aspect of this instrument including 100% of the player mechanism. The player consist of over 8,200 moving parts using mainly leather, wool, neoprene, twill, and rubberized cloth to restore this magnificent player. Once we finished the player mechanism we started the process of restoring the finish and strings. No expenses were spared when it came to this piano, every aspect was meticulously thought out and restored using only the finest products available.

Most importantly this piano has the ability to be played as a normal instrument with no difference within the action assembly and general touch, feel, and tone qualities of a Steinway. You really get the best of both worlds.

Wm. Knabe, Grand Piano, Ribbon Grain Mahogany, 1924, $13,500

Wm Knabe. was the one brand of piano that was truly preferred by professional pianist from 1890-1978, known for its full tone and wonderful action this instrument has proven to be a real treat for the student to the professional player.

This particular instrument has a perfect tone, what I like to call a real piano. To me it is hard to call instruments like Yamaha’s, Kawai, or even new Steinway’s a piano due to the lack of human involvement in the building process all the way down to the materials used to build the instrument. This Knabe is solid quarter sawn oak and maple, and then veneered with a beautiful deep ribbon grain mahogany. The sound board is Sitca Spruce and is flawless is design and condition. The keys were replaced with a simulated ivory and the ebonies are actually Ebony. The hammers have been replaced with American made Abel Gold Series and then voiced once after we installed and tuned the new strings. We use a Swedish steel piano wire available from the oldest american steel string manufacturer left in the US. The Bass strings are re-manufactured by the original Knabe String maker. We chose a Hand Rubbed Satin Mahogany finish which looks perfect with the hand polished (not plated) original hardware.

This piano is a perfect piano with tones that rival Steinway and a touch that is perfect for almost anyone. Please come by and play this instrument.

We are adding the finishing touches on a completely restored, beautifully crafted Mason Hamlin 1908 AA Grand Piano, Serial# 18218. This piano is gorgeous, an the sound is incredibly warm and rich. There are many that believe that a well crafted Mason & Hamlin grand piano rivals the sound of a Steinway. Well, this would be the piano to prove that point.

In the size format of a Steinway A, this Mason & Hamlin AA is a full-sized grand measuring 6′ 3″ long. The hand-crafted legs are truly unique and make this piano stand out from others of this period.
