Restored Steinway & Sons Duo-Art, Side View

Duo Art’s are one of the most amazing inventions to come out of the 20’th century!

If you haven’t ever heard a Restored Steinway & Sons Duo-Art of this caliber you are in for a real treat. This is one of those spectacles from the past; truly a “wonder” of history, the United States, and humanity. This Duo-art player mechanism that has been expertly rebuilt here in our shop has the ability to recreate the very best pianists that have ever lived. During the turn of the century Aeolian, Welte, and Ampico created a device which enabled them to record every detail of any artist that sat to play within their studios. These recordings are still used as the best representations of artist’s like Horowitz, Rachmaninoff, Rubinstein, and much more. With over 2,875 recordings to date, there is quite a large selection of music available, and that is just with the beginning! Check out our Virtual Roll System

Our Fully Restored Steinway Reproducing Duo-Art

This Duo-art player mechanism that has been expertly rebuilt here in our shop has the ability to recreate the very best pianists that have ever lived. This Steinway is an absolute rarity.  It is a rare thing to ever see a Louis Case, but the addition of the player makes this piano 1 of only 3 produced that year and less than 50 ever produced. We have restored every aspect of this instrument including 100% of the player mechanism. The Restored Steinway & Sons Duo-Art player consist of over 8,200 moving parts using mainly leather, pnuematic cloth, wool felt, neoprene, twill, and leather nuts to restore this Steinway Duo-Art.  Most importantly this piano has the ability to be played as a normal instrument with no difference within the action assembly and general touch, feel, and tone qualities of a Steinway. You really get the best of both worlds. Restored Steinway & Sons Duo-Art and a Restored Steinway & Sons Parlor Grand Piano.

Restoration of the Piano

Once we finished the player mechanism we started the process of restoring the action(Renner Whippens & Shanks and Hammers), finish(satin Lacquer) and strings(NY Steinway). No expenses were spared when it came to this piano, every aspect was meticulously rebuilt and restored using only the finest products available!
