This is a very rare and unique art case with only 5 produced in 1948.  This piano was purchased in New York in the summer of 1948 when the US economy was well on it way of towards greatness once again. This piano was made by the hands of craftsman and artisans alike coming together to produce a beautiful one of a kind instrument. We feel a very special bond to this instrument, it was an absolute pleasure to restore with almost no dents or scratches before restoration, we almost considered leaving it original but we knew once we restored this piano it would be a true gem. This piano today excluding the carving would start at $74,000.00 the reason why I said excluding the carving is because Steinway today is not able to reproduce carvings or even the walnut veneer today. This piano would have to be custom ordered and would cost around 150k.

This piano also featured the Steinway & Sons accelerated action which was introduced in 1936. This was Steinways last patent for pianos. After 1936 it seemed like there was no more improving needed, they made the perfect piano.
